KOYOTES TRYOUT SUNDAY: The Kansas Koyotes indoor football team will hold a tryout at 7 a.m. Sunday at the Sports Factory indoor facility, 600 S.W. Capehart Rd.                               Interested players should be age 18 or older and bring turf or tennis shoes. Registration is $50 in advance or $60 at the door. MOORE NAMED CHIEFS HISTORIAN: The Kansas City Chiefs named longtime director of public relations Bob Moore as its team historian. As historian, Moore will serve as the club's primary authority on the history of the team. He will continue to  work as the curator of the Chiefs Hall rolex fake of Honor, which debuts at the new Arrowhead Stadium late this year.                                                3. SHEETS, A'S AGREE TO TERMS: The Oakland Athletics took a gamble Tuesday on Ben Sheets, agreeing to terms with the free-agent righty on a $10 million, one-year contract only 11 months after he underwent elbow surgery that sidelined him all of last season.                                4. THOME NOW A TWIN: Jim Thome and the Twins agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $1.5 million contract, allowing the 39-year-old slugger to return to the division (AL Central) he knows well and play for a contender with his time in baseball winding down.                                5. GARLAND, PADRES AGREE: People familiar with the negotiations say free agent right-hander Jon Garland and the San Diego Padres have agreed to a $5.3 million, one-year contract. The three people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the agreement had not been announced.                                COLLEGE SPORTS                                      1. UCONN'S CALHOUN REMAINS ON LEAVE: Connecticut men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun remains on medical leave and will miss today's Big East game at Providence.                               Calhoun, who left the team a week ago, seems to be doing well and is "talking more aggressively" on the phone, said associate head coach George Blaney, who led the No. 19 Huskies (13-6, 3-3) to wins last week over St. John's and then-No. 1 Texas.                               Athletic Director Jeff Hathaway has said the decision on when Calhoun will return will be made by the coach and Dr. Peter Schulman, his primary physician.                      wholesale colthing           2. OBAMA THANKS KENTUCKY: President Barack Obama called Kentucky coach John Calipari to praise the program -- and to caution the top- ranked Wildcats. The country's No. 1 college basketball fan thanked Calipari and his players Tuesday for helping to raise more than $1 million as part of the "Hoops for Haiti" telethon.                                3. CREIGHTON SUSPENDS GUARD: Creighton has indefinitely suspended guard P'Allen Stinnett. Coach Dana Altman said in a statement Monday that the Bluejays' second-leading scorer is being disciplined for "conduct not acceptable to the team." Altman any further comment.                                4. BYU TO WEAR PINK ON SATURDAY: No. 12 BYU will be wearing pink in support of Coaches vs. Cancer when the Cougars host Utah on Saturday. The Cougars' white and blue home uniforms will also include pink trim and the players will wear pink basketball shoes. The coaches will also leave their dress shoes in the locker room and wear sneakers. BYU coach Dave Rose is a cancer survivor.                                MISCELLANEOUS                               1. EX-GOLFER'S SON DIES AT SMU: Hunter Green, the son of former professional golfer Ken Green, was found dead in his dorm room at Southern Methodist University last week, authorities said.
